Many people type the same keyword phrase but are looking for different things, or for the same things but for different reasons.

The moment that someone lands on your website you have seconds to grab their attention. Even if you succeed they may read on and still decide that its not what they were looking for. Worse still, what about the people who stay a while and then a few days later think “I wish I had bookmarked that page”. Let’s face it, we all do it, I still haven’t learned my lesson.

So how can we get there attention and make sure they can find us again and even get them to recommend us?

Offer them something for nothing that spreads the word about us.

You’ve got to be realistic and except that you are going to lose a lot of your visitors. Anything that you can do to stand a chance of getting them back or still making a sale has got to be a big bonus.

One way to capture someones attention is to offer something for nothing near the top of the page. People are responsive to free stuff, it may not be that your page was quite what they were looking for but hopefully they went away with something for nothing.  Those who cant find their way back to your site can be given a way back.

What I’m going to do in this post is show you how you can earn commission by giving stuff away and boost product sales by creating something to give away.

I have purely selfish intentions here as I’m going to use my own product as an example.

Ok, I have just released a video course that I want to sell online. I want to get people marketing it for me and I want to get people interested in the product.

The best way to get people to market your product is to make it as easy as possible and offer a generous incentive. So as all good vendors do I create banners, articles, graphics etc to make promotion as easy as possible. I give a good commission and I put my product into the marketplace and start testing my first pitch pages.

One problem with internet marketing is that if you are not in the right circles yet, it can take a while to get some momentum if at all. Sure you can keep working on page rank etc but its going to take some time and there are no guarantees. To make fast money you will need to spend a bit more money at the front end of your venture and this makes it more of a gamble. To get instant profit you have to get your product in front of a lot of people fast. You will also have to step out of your comfort zone and you will have to be able to take criticism. You will have to be blindly faithful to the person who’s blueprint or program you are following.
